Imphal, July 30, 2026: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has rejected allegations made by the Working Committee Joint Tribes' Council (WC-JTC) and several Naga organisations, describing them as false, politically motivated, and intended to create division between communities in Manipur. The organisation issued a clarification press release on Thursday in response to statements circulated through the media.
In a press statement issued on 30 July 2026, ZUF said it had consistently worked to promote peace and communal harmony since the outbreak of the ethnic conflict in Manipur. It also reiterated its condemnation of the killing of six Naga villagers from Khonsakhul and renewed its demand for justice from the Government of India. The organisation claimed that some civil bodies had deliberately ignored its stand while accusing it of collaborating with Kuki groups and CRPF CoBRA personnel.
Rejecting the allegations, ZUF maintained that it has never acted in collusion with any security force or sought to encourage conflict between Naga and Kuki communities. It further alleged that the accusations were part of a campaign to spread misinformation and heighten tensions in the state.
Referring to the Bitiang incident, ZUF stated that its personnel were conducting a routine patrol in Zeliangrong areas when they allegedly came under attack from NSCN-IM cadres, prompting them to return fire in self-defence. The organisation denied any involvement of CRPF CoBRA in the incident and asserted that claims of joint operations were fabricated to damage its reputation.
