A senior leader of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA-Hmar) was arrested by security forces in Churachandpur district, while a cache of arms and ammunition was recovered during a follow-up operation, Manipur police said.
According to police, personnel of the 5 Assam Rifles (5 AR) arrested RC Singson, identified as the Army Chief of the UKNA-Hmar, from Old Gelmol village on 5 August 2026.
Following the arrest, security forces carried out a search operation in the jungle area of Thingchawm Village in Churachandpur district, where they recovered several arms, ammunition and other incriminating materials.
Police said a regular case has been registered at Churachandpur Police Station under FIR No. 79(08)2026 CCP-PS. The case has been booked under Sections 310(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 25(1-C) of the Arms Act, Section 6(1)(1-A) of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act, and Section 4(b) of the Explosive Substances Act.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
