New Delhi, 23 October 2013: The Restoration Network is organising a song writing competition titled "Isn’t She Lovely" in the national capital on 2 November, inviting talented singers and musicians from the Northeast.
The theme of the competition is "Celebrating the Value of a Woman: Taking a Stand against Discrimination, Inequality, and Injustice towards Women."
“We are looking for young people from the Northeast to convey a strong message through their songs and raise their voices for women in our society,” said Awmtea Sailo, the head of the organising team, who runs the Jesiah Community Centre in Munirka.
Sailo added, “Each participating band should have between one and three members, including vocalists and instrumentalists, and must have at least one female member. All participants are required to compose a song related to the theme.”
Awmtea Sailo, originally from Manipur, was once a drug addict but has since transformed his life in Delhi. Moved by his past struggles, he has dedicated himself to helping those battling addiction.
Through his vision, the Jesiah Community Centre provides free consultations and hospital care for Northeast people, particularly those suffering from drug-related illnesses such as TB and HIV/AIDS.
The competition will take place at 133 West End Marg, Lane 1, 2nd Floor, Saidulajab, New Delhi (behind Saket Metro Station, Exit 2). The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 10,000.
