CHURACHANDPUR DISTRICT CHRISTIANS GOODWILL COUNCIL

PRAYING IN UNISON, LAMKA
DECLARATION OF UNITY AND COMMITMENT

Preamble:
We, the Pastors and Leaders of 30 denominations gathered at Evangelical Churches Association (ECA), M. Songgel Church on the Thirtieth Day of July Two Thousand Twenty-Five Anno Domino recognised the shared foundation of our faith and the transformative power of the Gospel, hereby re-affirm and declare our commitment to pursue unity, reconciliation and healing among ourselves. We acknowledge the failure caused by past divisions and attitudes. Therefore, we are hereby committed to repentance and healing.

Confession:
We confess the ways in which our individual communities have experienced division and discord, and we appeal that we all accept common identity in Christ.

Unity:
We commit to seeking a visible unity in Christ, understanding that while the precise form may not be fully foreseen, our shared journey will be marked by cooperation and shared responsibilities.

Love and Forgiveness:
We will strive to build a culture of love, forgiveness, and mutual accountability, creating safe spaces and genuine fellowship.

Humility and Service:
We will approach this journey with humility, recognizing that we are all learners and servants of Christ, and we will seek to understand and appreciate the unique contributions of each community in God given land.

Common Service:
We will work together in common service for the common purpose, demonstrating the Love of Christ through concrete actions of mercy and justice. (Micah 6:8)

Covenant of Action:
We commit to the following Covenant Actions:

  • To seek opportunities for joint fellowship and prayer; exchange visits and joint worship services within the members of the Council. We appeal all the Executive Head of denominations to initiate joint programs.

  • To participate in shared initiatives for community outreach, social justice, and addressing issues facing society today.

  • To engage in open and honest cooperation towards a deeper understanding of one another.

  • To encourage our congregations to embrace the vision of unity and to participate in the journey of reconciliation.

Conclusion:
We believe that this declaration is a step towards fulfilling Christ's Prayer that all His followers may be one (John 17:20-23). We invite all congregations and communities to join us in this pilgrimage of communion, seeking to build a more unified and vibrant Christian witness in our community.
