Bangladesh Army Arrests Kuki-Chin Villager in Bandarban Raid

An innocent villager was reportedly arrested by the Bangladesh Army during a sudden raid in Roinpara village of Bandarban district, triggering fear and tension among local residents.

According to the Media Wing of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) Bangladesh, the man has been identified as Sanglianthang (30), son of Juamangir, a farmer by occupation. He was taken into custody on suspicion of being a member of the Kuki National Army (KNA). However, villagers have strongly denied the allegation, insisting that Sanglianthang has no links to any armed or political organisation.

Local sources claimed that army personnel from the Roinpara camp entered the village without prior notice, broke into his house, and arrested him, allegedly labelling him a terrorist. Residents described the arrest as an abduction and maintained that he is an innocent civilian.

Following the operation, panic reportedly continues to prevail in the village. The incident has been described by community members as part of ongoing persecution against the Bawm Christian community in the region.

The Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) has strongly condemned what it termed as inhumane behaviour by state security forces and demanded an end to such actions against civilians.
