Mother’s Sacrifice behind U-17 Captain Muon Gangte’s Inspiring Rise

This is a touching story of a mother’s sacrifice and a son’s remarkable achievement.

Mrs Zami Gangte is the loving mother of Dallalmuon “Muon” Gangte, the captain of India’s U-17 football team. Her son recently shone on the field by scoring a brilliant hat-trick against Chinese Taipei in the Asian Qualifiers. His performance brought pride to the whole nation.

Muon is the eldest of four children. After losing his father, the family depended heavily on his mother’s hard work. In Imphal, she used to sell vegetables at the Tribal Market in New Lambulane to support her children and help Moun pursue football.

When the ethnic conflict forced the Kuki-Zo community to leave Imphal, the family moved to Kolasib in Mizoram. There, Mrs Zami Gangte began working at a stone quarry to continue providing for her family and to ensure that Muon could keep chasing his football dreams.

Her resilience, courage and love have played a huge part in her son’s success. Muon’s remarkable rise in football is a reflection of both his talent and his mother’s unwavering dedication.

We wish God’s blessings on the family, and we hope Muon continues to make India proud. His journey is truly inspiring, and the nation celebrates both his achievement and his mother’s strength.
