District Police cruises through to the knock-out round
In today's key Group B fixture, Churachandpur District Police completed their assignments by clinching a 2-0 win against FC Zotal to sail through to the knock-out round as Pool B runners-up.
The match was such that District Police were in need of a win at any costs to progress while FC Zotal were assured of progress with a draw. Keeping this in mind, the District Police personnel fought with all might right from the start and they managed to translate their dominance into goal when Nohminlen Haokip gave them the lead from the penalty spot just before half-time.
FC Zotal tried everything to get back into the game with the start of the second-half but they were unable to pierce through the Police defence and in stoppage time, Daniel Lalrosiem made sure of Police victory as his goal secured them a 2-0 win to set up a mouth-watering clash with SYMROPIA FC in the Round of 16 clash.
