KTU/NSCN Clarifies Chassad Incident Rumours, Urges Peace

The Kuki Tribal Union (KTU/NSCN) has issued a press release clarifying the incident that reportedly took place in Chassad village on the night of February 10, 2026.

According to the statement, certain rumors were circulating on social media and among the public. The rumors claimed that a Tangkhul Naga women's team attempted to torch and burn down the Kuki village of Chassad. Another claim stated that Indian security forces were transporting Kuki militants from Burma (KNA-B) to Litan Sarei Khong and nearby Sarkaphung villages.

However, KTU/NSCN strongly denied these allegations. The union clarified that no Tangkhul Naga women's team attacked Chassad village. It also stated that no Kuki militants were being transported by Indian security forces.

Instead, the release explained that Tangkhul Naga women had rushed to the area to check the movement of security forces and to prevent militants from entering their region. Their actions, according to KTU/NSCN, were aimed at maintaining peace following two recent incidents in neighboring areas. The union said their intentions were misunderstood.

KTU/NSCN further appealed to the public not to circulate the video related to the incident. It urged people to delete the video from their records and discourage others from sharing it.

The union stated that it is doing its best to stabilize the situation and maintain peace and harmony in the area, which it described as tense and "war-like."
