Mizoram CM condoles Pu Vungzagin Valte

IT IS with profound grief and a deep sense of loss that I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Pu Vungzagin Valte, Hon'ble MLA from Thanlon Constituency, Manipur Legislative
Assembly, also former Minister, and former Adviser to the Chief Minister of Manipur.

Pu Gin's untimely demise is not only a tragic loss to the people of Manipur but to the entire Zo community across North-East India and beyond. His life was one of unwavering commitment to public service, guided by conviction, courage, and compassion for the voiceless.

The tragic and brutal attack on him on 4th May, 2023, in Imphal by armed militias, while he was returning home from the Chief Minister's Bungalow shocked the nation and remains painful chapter in our collective memory. Despite the immense suffering he endured thereafter, Pu Valte fought bravely and waited for justice to be delivered to the perpetrators.

Throughout his distinguished political career, he worked tirelessly for the upliftment of the Zo ethnic tribes in Manipur and championed the cause of the poor and the underprivileged. His persistent efforts led to the recognition of Zomi Nam Ni (Zomi National Day) as a Restricted Holiday in Manipur - an important affirmation of identity and cultural dignity for the Zo people. He also played a pivotal role in advocating for the creation of the Mualnuam ADC in Churachandpur District, ensuring better governance and administrative access for the remote Zodawn villages

Pu Gin was a bridge-builder, a firm believer in peace and mutual respect among diverse communities. In his passing, Mizoram has lost a dear friend and a fellow Zo leader whose contributions will be remembered with gratitude and reverence.

On behalf of the Government and the people of Mizoram, I convey our deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, the people of Thanion Constituency, and to the Zo tribes in Manipur at large. We share in your sorrow during this difficult time and pray that the Almighty grants eternal peace to his departed soul and strength and comfort to all who mourn his loss.

May his legacy continue to inspire us toward justice, unity, and enduring peace.

Lalduhawma
Chief Minister of Mizoram
