Nemcha Kipgen Must Step Down Immediately From Manipur Deputy CM Post

By:~ Sasang Haokip

We, the Kuki people, aren't fighting for your deputy chief minister seat in the Manipur government; we're fighting for our rights, dignity, and freedom. The violence, killings, and suffering are about land, identity, and survival - not about occupying a Deputy CM post in Manipur. Nemcha Kipgen's position in the government should reflect the aspirations of the Kuki community. If it doesn't, it's time for her to reconsider her role. The struggle of the Kuki people demands more than symbolic representation.

If Nemcha Kipgen doesn't step down, it may precipitate further disunity and discord within our society. The Kuki community's concerns and aspirations need genuine address, and her continued presence in the post might impede the healing and reconciliation process. The focus should be on the community's well-being, not individual positions.

We have been asserting our presence in Kukiland since May 3, 2023 - this is our land. The distinction between Meitei and Kuki is clear; Kangpokpi is Kukiland. It's time to acknowledge this reality.
