Manipur appoints M Joy Singh as State Election Commissioner

Imphal, April 15, 2026: The Government of Manipur has appointed Shri M. Joy Singh, IAS (Retd.), as the State Election Commissioner of Manipur. The appointment was made through an official order issued by the Secretariat: Law & Legislative Affairs Department.

According to the order (No. Com-3/2/2026-SEC-LAW), the appointment has been made under the powers conferred by Article 243K of the Constitution of India, read with Rules 3 and 6 of the Election Commissioner of Manipur (Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994.

Shri M. Joy Singh will serve as the State Election Commissioner until he attains the age of 62 years, which will be on December 31, 2026.

The order further states that details regarding his pay will be issued separately, while other conditions of service will be governed by the Election Commissioner of Manipur (Conditions of Service) Rules, 1994.

The order was issued by Namoijam Kheda Varta Singh, Secretary (Law), Government of Manipur, in the name of the Governor.
