KCAC Condemns Harassment of Kuki Civilians in Operations

LAMKA, June 23, 2026: The Kuki Civic Action Committee (KCAC) has strongly condemned what it described as the continued harassment, intimidation, and targeting of innocent Kuki civilians during search and cordon operations carried out in different parts of Manipur.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the committee expressed deep concern over the ongoing situation, stating that the Kuki community continues to suffer despite the immense losses endured since the outbreak of ethnic violence in the state. KCAC noted that the community is still seeking justice for the loss of lives, destruction of villages, and displacement of thousands of people.

The committee alleged that security operations have disproportionately affected Kuki areas and civilians, raising concerns over fairness, impartiality, and accountability in the enforcement of law. It maintained that any action perceived as discriminatory undermines public confidence in institutions responsible for maintaining peace and justice.

KCAC further stated that the continued selective application of law has deepened feelings of insecurity and alienation among the Kuki people. The organization emphasized the need for authorities to focus on identifying and prosecuting those responsible for killings, arson, and large-scale displacement rather than subjecting innocent civilians to what it termed as intimidation and harassment.

Calling for immediate intervention, the committee urged the Government of India, state authorities, and security agencies to ensure that all security operations are conducted in a transparent, professional, and impartial manner while strictly adhering to constitutional safeguards and human rights standards.

Reaffirming the community's commitment to peace and justice, KCAC appealed to the authorities to uphold the rule of law without fear, favour, prejudice, or discrimination. The committee stated that its appeal was made in the interest of justice, peace, and constitutional governance.
