New Delhi, 26 June 2026: The Naga Students' Union, Delhi (NSUD) has rejected a recent statement issued by the Kuki-Zo Council regarding the killing of six Naga civilians, arguing that it does not amount to a genuine apology or acceptance of responsibility.
In a press statement issued on Friday, the union said the statement sought to justify an act it described as inhumane rather than acknowledging accountability. It also criticised the use of the term "Katcha Nagas", calling it derogatory and unsupported by credible historical evidence.
NSUD urged that any apology should be accompanied by efforts to identify and prosecute those responsible for the killings. It also called on the Kuki-Zo Council to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and clarify whether the apology had been issued on behalf of those allegedly involved.
The union further appealed to the government to ensure that the rule of law prevails and reaffirmed its solidarity with the families of the six victims. It said lasting reconciliation could only be achieved through truth, accountability and justice.
