KANGPOKPI — The Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU), Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi District, has issued a public appeal regarding the detention of three community leaders—Pu Kammang Lhouvum, Pu Ngamboi Haokip, and Pu Pagin Hangshing—who were arrested by government forces during a protest in the Leimakhong area on July 11, 2026.
To meet legal and defense expenses required for their release, COTU has requested a contribution of ₹100 per household across the Kuki-Zo villages in Kangpokpi District. Village chiefs (Haosa) and local leaders have been urged to facilitate the collection effort.
The organization has requested that all collected funds be submitted by August 3, 2026. The appeal was issued by the Nampi Gal Madop / Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU), Kangpokpi.
