Ukhrul, July 6, 2026: Two Assam Rifles personnel were martyred after suspected Naga militants ambushed their convoy on National Highway 202 near Noungshong Khong village under Ukhrul Police Station in Manipur's Ukhrul district on Monday, 6 July 2026.
Following the attack, additional security forces were immediately deployed to the area. An exchange of fire reportedly took place between the security personnel and the suspected militants as reinforcements responded to the ambush. The condition of the militants and any further casualties have not yet been officially confirmed.
Security agencies have launched a search and counter-insurgency operation in and around the area to track down those responsible. Officials said the operation is continuing, with forces working to neutralise the militants involved in the attack. Further details are awaited as the situation develops.
