The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the timetable for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026, which will be conducted over two weekends in August 2026.
The examination begins on 21 August (Friday) with the Essay Paper (Paper I). On 22 August, candidates will appear for General Studies I and II, followed by General Studies III and IV on 23 August.
After a week's break, the examination will resume on 29 August with the Indian Language (Paper A) in the morning and English (Paper B) in the afternoon. The final day, 30 August, will feature the Optional Subject Papers VI and VII, covering a wide range of disciplines including Agriculture, Anthropology, Civil Engineering, Economics, Geography, History, Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Literature, and many others.
Each paper will be held in two sessions: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Candidates are advised to prepare accordingly and keep track of the official UPSC notifications for further updates.
