46 KCP (Taibanganba) Members Lay Down Arms in Manipur

IMPHAL, August 18, 2026: Forty-six members of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba) surrendered before Manipur Police on Tuesday during a "Homecoming Ceremony" held at the 1st Manipur Rifles parade ground in Imphal. During the ceremony, the cadres laid down 20 weapons, 216 rounds of ammunition, and three explosives.

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh warmly welcomed the former cadres, assuring them of government assistance to help them earn a peaceful livelihood. Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister noted that many individuals had taken up arms following the conflict that broke out three years prior. He emphasized that the surrendering members had realized that violence cannot yield progressive development.

The surrender of the 46 members was executed under the state's revised surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy 2018.
