LAMKA, Aug 25, 2026: The Churachandpur District Police and Cyber Cell on Tuesday held an interaction programme with citizens whose lost or stolen mobile phones had been recovered by the police this year.
The programme was led by Lawrence K. Munluo, Additional SP (Law and Order) and Nodal Officer of the Cyber Cell, Churachandpur, along with SI Pumkhansiam Vualnam, In-charge of the Cyber Cell.
During the interaction, Munluo thanked citizens for their trust in the District Police and Cyber Cell and for reporting their lost or stolen mobile phones. He said the district police would always remain available to assist citizens in every way possible.
While acknowledging that police efforts may sometimes be unsuccessful or delayed, he said the number of successful recoveries remained higher.
Munluo highlighted several precautions for the public. He urged everyone to keep a record of their mobile phone's International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number, saying it is one of the most useful details for recovering a lost phone and that a phone number alone is not sufficient.
He also cautioned people to exercise care when purchasing second-hand mobile phones, as such devices could be stolen. Buying a stolen phone, he warned, could result in serious legal complications as well as financial loss.
Citizens were advised to immediately report lost or stolen phones to the nearest police station and subsequently to the Cyber Cell, as early reporting increases the chances of recovery.
The Nodal Officer also urged the public to remain alert to the latest cyber fraud techniques used by scammers and to take extra care in public places, including hospitals and hotels, where phones should not be left unattended.
The Cyber Cell, Churachandpur District Police, has been making efforts to recover lost and stolen mobile phones alongside its other duties.
As of Aug 25, 2026, the District Police and Cyber Cell have recovered 111 lost or stolen mobile phones and returned them to their rightful owners this year.
