New Delhi, August 31, 2026: The Kuki-Zo Women’s Forum, Delhi & NCR (KZWFD), has strongly condemned the reported killing of three Kuki-Zo civilians, including two women, at Teikhang Kuki Village along the IT Road.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the forum identified the two women as Tingneichin Lhouvum, wife of Tongpao Lhouvum, and Hoineng Lhoujem, wife of Thanggoulen Lhoujem.
The forum described the reported point-blank killing of unarmed civilians as a “grave and deeply disturbing” act of violence and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.
The KZWFD said it was particularly outraged that women, who it said had already borne the burden of violence and displacement, continued to be targeted and killed.
“No political demand, ethnic grievance, territorial claim or armed struggle can ever justify the deliberate targeting of innocent civilians,” the forum said.
The forum said reports had attributed the attack to cadres allegedly associated with NSCN-IM and ZUF-Kamson. It called for an impartial, independent and time-bound investigation to establish the facts, identify those responsible and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The KZWFD also appealed to Awangbow Newmai, President of NPP-Manipur, to speak out against the killings.
The forum noted that three days before the incident, Newmai had called on Nemcha Kipgen, the state's former Deputy Chief Minister, to sensitise her community towards greater humanity and the upholding of Christian values.
“In the wake of the Teikhang killings, the KZWFD respectfully but firmly asks Shri Newmai to demonstrate the same principle of moral responsibility by speaking out against the killing of Kuki-Zo civilians,” it said.
