TINSUKIA, August 30, 2026: Security forces apprehended an active cadre of the NSCN (IM) during a special operation in the general area of Ledo in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Friday night.
Acting on credible intelligence about the presence of an NSCN (IM) cadre allegedly involved in weapon-related activities and the collection of extortion money, 20 Assam Rifles launched the operation at around 4 pm on August 28, 2026
During the operation, an active cadre was apprehended and identified as SS Sergeant Major Yangsin Khocha, a resident of Phangsun village under Namtok Police Station in Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh.
Security forces reportedly recovered one mobile phone and a carry bag from his possession.
Preliminary interrogation allegedly revealed information about the movement of other cadres in the area and their activities against security forces.
According to the security forces, Khocha was also found to be operating under the direction of SS Captain Yumsen Kongkang, a previously apprehended NSCN (K-YA) cadre, suggesting links between the two individuals and the wider insurgent network operating in the region.
