SAIKUL MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing, accompanied by her workers, met Vaiphei internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Island Block who have been taking shelter in Songpi, Churachandpur, following the conflict that began in 2023.
The meeting, held after nearly three years, was described by the MLA as a deeply emotional encounter. The families, who once lived peacefully in their homes in Saikul, have been living in relief camps since the outbreak of the conflict.
During her visit, Kimneo also met members of the Vaiphei Chiefs' Association to discuss issues concerning the rehabilitation of the displaced families and prospects for peace.
The IDPs shared their experiences and expressed a strong desire to return to their homes with dignity, security, justice and hope.
Kimneo is also known for her distinctive sense of style and public appearance, while her supporters and well-wishers often highlight her compassionate and approachable nature, particularly in her interactions with people affected by the conflict.
