LAMKA, August 18, 2026 — In a major academic milestone, TD Peter Lianlunthang has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) by Assam Don Bosco University.
Dr. Lianlunthang successfully completed his doctoral research titled “Studies on the Impact of Non-Gravitational Forces on the Dynamics of D68 Ringlet of Saturn’s D Ring” under the guidance of Prof. Monmoyuri Baruah. He is the youngest son of Late Barnabas Langchinkhup and Martha Mankhoniang, residing in Sugnu Zoveng, Chandel District, Manipur.
Combining theoretical analysis and numerical simulations with observational data from the Cassini spacecraft, his research offers fresh insights into how non-gravitational influences — including electromagnetic forces and plasma drag — impact charged dust grains in Saturn's innermost ringlet, D68. The findings significantly advance the scientific understanding of the structure and evolution of Saturn’s tenuous D ring and broader dusty ring systems.
Heartiest Congratulations & Best Wishes
Warmest congratulations to Dr. TD Peter Lianlunthang (Zou) on achieving this distinguished academic feat! May your dedicated research open up vibrant new horizons in astrophysics, and may you continue to inspire the youth of Manipur and beyond to pursue excellence in higher research and space science. Wishing you immense success in all your future academic and scientific endeavours!
