KANGPOKPI, August 31, 2026: Three villagers, including two women, were reportedly killed after around 50 heavily armed cadres allegedly attacked Teikhang village in the fringe area of IT Road, about seven kilometres from Chalwa, on Monday morning.
According to a press release issued by the Twilang Area Kuki CSO Working Committee, the attack took place at around 8 a.m. The attackers allegedly opened indiscriminate fire on civilians and set several houses ablaze.
The deceased were identified as Mrs. Tingneichin Lhouvum (40), Mrs. Hoineineng Lhoujem (21), and Mr. Lamtinthang Lhoujem (36).
Four others — Mrs. Nemneichong Lhoujem (50), Mr. Seilun Lhoujem (70), Deilhing Haokip (55), and Kamtinsei Chongloi (38) — sustained bullet injuries and were reported to be critically injured.
The committee alleged that cadres of NSCN (IM) and its proxy force, ZUF (K) were responsible for the attack. It urged the authorities to immediately deploy adequate personnel and ensure safe passage for the injured while they are transported to hospital.
