NEW DELHI — Senior diplomat Pi Muanpuii Saiawi (IFS: 2005), currently serving as the High Commissioner of India to New Zealand, has been concurrently accredited as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Vanuatu, with residence in Wellington. She is expected to assume her new responsibilities shortly, according to an official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.
Hailing from Mizoram, Pi Muanpuii Saiawi is a distinguished 2005-batch Indian Foreign Service officer who brings over two decades of extensive administrative, policy, and diplomatic experience to the Pacific region. As one of the prominent diplomatic figures from Northeast India representing the nation globally, her career spans key diplomatic assignments across Indian missions abroad as well as critical desk responsibilities within the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. Over the years, she has managed strategic portfolios covering multilateral affairs, bilateral diplomacy, and regional development initiatives.
Her concurrent accreditation to Vanuatu underscores India’s continued effort to deepen its engagement with Pacific Island nations under the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC) framework. Operating from her base in Wellington, High Commissioner Saiawi will oversee India's bilateral dialogue, capacity-building programs, and expanding outreach with Vanuatu alongside her ongoing diplomatic duties in New Zealand.
