A kind-hearted philanthropist, Pu Genliankham, fondly known as Liana Vaiphei, passed away in Bengaluru on 20 August 2022 after a prolonged illness. He was 59.
He was the President of the Zomi Youth Association (ZYA), Bangalore Region, and was widely known for his selfless service and compassion toward the Zo people living in the city. His helping hands reached many who faced difficulties, and his humble nature left a deep mark on everyone who knew him.
Pu Liana was also among the earliest settlers in Bengaluru, paving the way for many others who came after him. His life was a testimony of love, care, and dedication to the welfare of his community.
During the condolence gathering, Rev. M.G. Nehlian, a doctoral student at United Theological College (UTC), Bengaluru, shared an encouraging message and prayed for the bereaved family. As students, we could only stay for a brief time before returning to our campus, but our hearts remained with the family in their time of grief.
May God comfort his wife, children, and loved ones, and fill the emptiness left by his passing.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (NRSV)
