LAMKA, 9 June, 2023: Khoken village, located at the Kangpokpi-Imphal border, came under heavy attack by Meitei militants disguised as army personnel and using army vehicles on June 9th, 2023. Using the pretext of conductingcombing operations, the militants opened fire at the Kuki villagers, killing Mr Jangpao Touthang, Mr Khaimang Guite, and Mrs Domkhohoi. Mrs Domkhohoi was shot dead while saying her prayers in the village church.

The Gorkha Regiment stationed nearby learned of the attack and came to the rescue of the villages. The Meiteimilitants are suspected to be a combination of the Arambai Tenggol members and surrendered militants of Valley-based Underground Groups.
Surprisingly, some Imphal valley-based newspapers allegedly reported that the deceased woman is suspected to be a "sniper-shooter of Kuki militants".
