On a day(28 Sept) when Meitei militants were planning to attack Kukis from all fronts, Kukis did something quite different by releasing three Meitei youths whom they caught alive. Though the killing of Halvidar Mate is still quite fresh in memory, Kukis displayed examplary humanism in releasing the three Meiteis without harm which is in line with Kuki tradition of not killing civilians even during war.
