Tragedy and Hope: A Baby Born Amid Grief in Relief Camp

Lamka, 21 Nov 2024:  Barely four days after his father, Haojoel Doungel (27), was tragically found dead in Jiribam on November 16, 2024, a baby boy was born to his wife in Hmarkhawlien Relief Camp at 11 PM on November 20.

The newborn is said to be in good health, bringing a glimmer of hope to a grieving family.

Haojoel, son of Seilam Doungel, was reportedly abducted in Assam while visiting his pregnant wife and later found deceased.

Haojoel’s body was brought to Lamka from Silchar last night, where he will be laid to rest in the Kuki-Zo Martyrs’ Cemetery.
