KHAMPAT, MYANMAR – On January 16, 2025, around 8:30 PM, Myanmar military aircraft carried out an airstrike on Khampat Zo veng, destroying more than 20 houses. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries have been reported.
Khampat, situated along the Tamu-Mandalay highway, is a key strategic military station that was recently taken over by the People’s Defense Force (PDF). In an effort to reclaim the area, the junta launched the aerial attack, according to local sources.
A local Zo woman from Khampat, speaking to KV News, described the terrifying
moment: “We were inside the house with my parents, discussing the ongoing
turmoil, when we suddenly heard the roar of an aircraft. Almost immediately, a
powerful explosion shook the area, and we could hear the sound of tin roofs
shattering. We were terrified and didn’t know what to do — we just took cover
under our bed.”
The attack has intensified fear among residents
as tensions continue to escalate in the region.
Acting President Min Aung Hlaing, the head of the military and prime minister since 2021, is widely regarded as one of the cruelest rulers in history.
KV News has witnessed rampant human rights violations, with the junta’s indiscriminate killing of innocent civilians and bombings being completely against humanity.
The International Court of Justice
must take urgent action to prevent further loss of innocent lives in Myanmar.
