Beyond the Headline: Unpacking the ZRA EC's Latest Response to CNA/F's Media Tactics

Tedim, April 21, 2025 --- In light of our recent article from "Beyond the Headline : Who owns the Truth" a new video has surfaced allegedly from the Zomi Revolutionary Army - Eastern Command (ZRA EC). The footage, which appears to be either from a past battle or a recent encounter, has emerged at a time when tensions in the region remain high. Its timing strongly suggests it may be a direct response to the provocative and disturbing video released earlier by forces aligned with Zou Thangsuanmung's Chinland Defence Force (CDF) Tonzang.

This sequence of events lends further credibility to our earlier claims about the CNA/F and its affiliates' manipulation of media to gain sympathy and financial support. The release of the initial video from the CNA/CDF on April 20, 2025, filled with unsettling content, seems designed to shape narratives and elicit emotional backing. However, the emergence of this counter-video for the very first time in the history of years of long battle from the ZRA EC pushes back against that narrative of the CNA/F or the CDFs, showcasing a different perspective, one that demands a closer, more balanced look.

It is essential to underscore that the ZRA EC and the broader Zomi community are not against the Zou community itself. On the contrary, they have consistently clarified that their fight is directed at the CNA/F and its affiliate groups seen as forcefully intruding and disrupting regional peace in Zogam, Tedim District of the Chin state in Myanmar. The leadership within the Zou community must recognize this distinction and resist the temptation to blur the lines between targeted military opposition and broader ethnic identity.

Rather than spinning the situation into an inter-tribe conflict, the Zou leadership should face the facts and acknowledge the growing sentiment within their own community. Many among the Zou people are vocally opposing the forceful occupation and yearn for an end to the violence.

There is a clear consensus: if these intruding forces withdraw and return to their rightful places, the hostilities would cease immediately.

The road to peace lies in truth and clarity, not in manipulated narratives. It is time to listen to the voices on the ground and distinguish between political ambition and the genuine will of the people.
