Imphal, 4 July 2025 — In a major intelligence-based operation, Manipur Police, along with Assam Rifles, the Indian Army, and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), successfully recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives from the hill districts of the state. The coordinated search operations, which began at midnight on 3rd July and continued till the morning of 4th July, targeted suspected areas in Tengnoupal, Kangpokpi, Chandel, and Churachandpur.
The joint security teams acted on specific intelligence inputs and launched simultaneous raids at multiple sites. The operation led to the recovery of 203 weapons, including 21 Insas rifles, 11 AK series rifles, 26 SLRs, 11 rifles with scopes, and various other firearms such as carbines, sniper rifles, pistols, and locally-made weapons.
Additionally, the forces seized a significant amount of ammunition and explosives, including:
30 IEDs
29 rounds of 5.56 mm
80 rounds of 7.62 mm
10 grenades
9 pompi shells
2 lathode grenades
Police officials described the operation as a major success in their efforts to restore normalcy, ensure public safety, and prevent the illegal use of arms. The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or information regarding illegal arms to the nearest police station or control room.
The Office of the Director General of Police, Manipur, stated that such sustained and focused operations will continue in coordination with all security stakeholders to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and maintain peace in the region.
