Lamka, August 8, 2025: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body representing the Kuki tribes, has strongly rejected the legitimacy of the Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) delegation that visited Imphal on August 6, 2025, allegedly to engage in "peace talks" with Meitei civil society organizations.
In a press release issued by KIM’s Secretary of Information & Publicity, Janghaulon Haokip, the organization condemned TIM and its 17-member delegation, declaring them ostracised from the Kuki community and enemies of the people for undermining the collective struggle and aspirations of the Kuki community.
Citing multiple resolutions—including the Inpi Proclamation (July 2023), Delhi Conclave Declaration (October 2023), and Shillong Summit Resolution (August 2024)—KIM asserted that Thadou Inpi Manipur holds no mandate to represent the Kuki people and has dissociated itself from Kuki identity.
The statement questions the timing and intent of the so-called "peace initiative" by TIM, especially as the Kuki people continue to face widespread displacement, persecution, and denial of justice. KIM argues that such unauthorized dialogues only dilute the gravity of the community’s suffering and fracture unity.
KIM reiterated that authentic representation is essential for any meaningful dialogue to resolve the ongoing Kuki–Meitei conflict. It called upon local, national, and international stakeholders to recognize the true voice of the Kuki people and reject any attempt by fringe elements to hijack or distort the movement.
“Peace cannot be built on exclusion, misrepresentation, or betrayal,” the release reads, urging justice, safety, and security for the Kuki community.
