Lamka, September 13, 2025 — A group of 10 legislators from Manipur submitted a joint memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his first visit to Lamka, Churachandpur, urging for an early political settlement to the ongoing conflict in the state.
The MLAs, representing constituencies across Churachandpur, Tengnoupal, Saikul, Kangpokpi, and other hill districts, alleged that their people have faced ethnic persecution, displacement, and violence in the valley areas of Manipur. They stated that the minority community had been “totally cleansed” from the Imphal valley and subjected to “shame, assault, rape, and ravages” both physically and mentally.
The memorandum emphasized that peaceful coexistence could only be achieved as “good neighbours, never under the same roof again.” It called upon the Prime Minister to expedite dialogue and address their long-standing demand for a separate Union Territory with Legislature.
The memorandum was signed by the following MLAs:
-
Vungzagin Valte – MLA, Thanlon AC (BJP)
-
Ngursanglur Sanate – MLA, Tipaimukh AC (BJP)
-
Chinlunthang Manlun – MLA, Singngat AC (KPA)
-
Letzamang Haokip – MLA, Henglep AC (BJP)
-
Paolienlal Haokip – MLA, Saikot AC (BJP)
-
Lallianmang Khaute – MLA, Churachandpur AC (BJP)
-

-
Kimneo Hangshing – MLA, Saikul AC (KPA)
-
Haokholet Kipgen – MLA, Saitu AC (Independent)
-

The leaders expressed hope that this political solution would bring lasting peace, security, justice, and belonging to their people.
