BY the grace and mercy of our good Lord, Zogam Today joyfully celebrates
its 13th Anniversary on 30th October 2025. It was on this very
day in 2012 that the first edition of Zogam Today hit the media stands
in Lamka as a bilingual daily newspaper
— published in both the Zou dialect and
English. This marked a proud and historic moment for the Zou community,
as it became the first daily of its kind.
Before
becoming a daily, Zogam Today began its humble journey as a monthly magazine on 14th May 2011, carrying the inspiring
motto: “Our Today, Our Future & History.” For 16 months, it
continued to reach the community with dedication, promoting unity, awareness,
and progress. This motto still stands as the guiding light of the paper —
reminding every reader that our actions today shape both our future and our
shared history.
At
the heart of this remarkable journey stands our beloved Editor, Mr. Lun Samte, whose humility, faith, and tireless effort
have been the backbone of Zogam Today. Since its inception, he has
worked day and night — often sacrificing his sleep, personal comfort, and
family time — to ensure that each issue reaches the readers on time. Many of us
have seen him staying awake through the night, carefully managing the paper so
that every dawn brings a new edition to life.
Mr.
Samte is not only a devoted Christian, a loving husband, and a caring father,
but also a man deeply rooted in media
ethics. His journalistic work has always been guided by truth, impartiality, and fairness,
reflecting his belief that journalism must serve the people honestly and without
bias.
A
passionate journalist and a gifted writer in the Zou dialect, he has inspired many through his words and actions.
Beyond journalism, he is also a talented lyricist — several of his Christian and patriotic songs have
been featured in motion albums, touching hearts across generations. Despite his
talents, he remains humble and grounded, known to all for his kindness,
honesty, and helping nature.
He
has also contributed greatly to the wider media community, serving as Secretary of both the Manipur Hill Journalists Union (MHJU)
and the Churachandpur District
Journalists Union (CDJU). His leadership reflects not only
professionalism but also a philanthropic heart and a zeal for the social upliftment of society.
Throughout
these 13 years, Zogam Today has faced numerous challenges — from poor
internet connectivity and erratic power supply to the high cost of paper and
printing. Yet, through every difficulty, God’s faithful hand has sustained us. There are countless ways in
which His guidance and provision have kept this newspaper alive, far beyond
what our human minds can express.
As
the Bible reminds us in Galatians 6:9
(NRSV) — “So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we
will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.” Truly, this verse mirrors
the life and work of our Editor, who never gave up, even in the toughest of
times. His perseverance and faith continue to be an example to all of us who
walk this journey together.
Today,
as we celebrate this milestone, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Editor Lun Samte, who has been a guiding light and
steady hand through every storm. We also express our deep appreciation to the editorial team, whose commitment and
teamwork have helped Zogam Today reach this far.
To
our beloved readers and supporters,
we say thank you for your continued trust and encouragement. Your prayers,
feedback, and love have been our greatest strength.
May
the Almighty continue to bless Zogam Today, its Editor, staff, and
readers — that together, we may keep shining the light of truth, service, and
hope for generations to come.
(Serving since May 2011)
