The Dampa by-election in Mizoram State delivered a decisive win for MNF candidate Dr. R. Lalthangliana, who emerged ahead of his rivals after votes were counted across all polling stations and postal ballots.
According to the official tally, Dr. Lalthangliana secured a total of 6,981 votes, while his closest competitor, ZPM candidate Vanlalsailova, received 6,419 votes. This placed the MNF candidate in the lead by a margin of 562 votes.
From the polling-station data, MNF performed strongly across key locations such as West Phaileng, Chhippui, Pukzing, Marpara, Hnahva, Silsury, and several others, consistently outpacing rival candidates. ZPM also showed notable strength in constituencies like Silsury-I, Chhippui, Marpara Mizoveng, and Pukzing Vengthar, contributing to the close contest.
INC candidate John Rotluangliana secured 2,394 votes, while BJP candidate Lalhmingthanga received 1,541 votes. The People’s Conference (PC) candidate K. Zahmingthanga got 50 votes, and NOTA registered 45 votes.
