The pictures show the harvest season of Suangdoh villagers, a time filled with joy and gratitude. After months of hard work under the sun, their effort has finally borne fruit. The golden fields show the crops ready for gathering, while the sacks filled with produce tell stories of patience, teamwork, and dedication. Men and women work together, carrying heavy loads along the roadside, a common sight during harvest time in the hills. This season marks not just the end of labour, but also the beginning of thanksgiving — a reminder that God’s blessing comes through honest work and perseverance. For the people of Suangdoh, every sack represents the reward of their hands and the faithfulness of God in providing for their needs.
Suangdoh is a Zomi village located along National Highway 102B (NH 102B), also known as Guite Road. This road connects Lamka with Mizoram, and the village is about 60 km away from Lamka town.
In history, Suangdoh has always been under the rule of the Guite clan. The Suangdoh chiefs come from the family line of Thangpau, the third son of Innpipa Pu Vummang — the 17th direct descendant of Pu Guite. From his capital at present-day Teddim, Pu Vummang ruled over many villages that paid him taxes and followed his authority.
In 2016, Suangdoh Sub-Division (TD Block) was created, covering around 30 villages in the area. The nearest Tehsils are Singngat (35 km away) and Mualnuam (40 km away), while the district headquarters, Lamka, lies 60 km to the north.
Today, Suangdoh has over 200 households. The village has a Primary Health Centre (PHC) or Health & Wellness Centre, a Government High School, and a Church-run Junior High School named Kaikhoen Academy. The village stretches about 2 km in length.
Several rivers — Tuivel, Tuilak, Tuivai, Zaupilui, Louhak Lui, Govomlui, and Enpailui — flow in and around the village.
According to the 2011 Census of India, Suangdoh had 247 households with a total population of 1,402 people — 707 males and 695 females.
