The Gawkeu is a traditional bamboo spoon used by the Thangkhal people. In the Thangkhal dialect, gua means bamboo and keu means spoon. It is made from a single piece of mature bamboo, carefully cut and shaped by hand. The handle is long and smooth, while the bowl is deep and slightly curved, suitable for serving rice, curry, soup and fermented foods.
The Gawkeu is strong, light and eco-friendly. It does not react with hot food and keeps the natural taste intact. Each spoon reflects the skill and patience of traditional craftsmanship passed down through generations. More than a kitchen tool, the Gawkeu represents Thangkhal culture, simplicity and respect for nature, showing how everyday objects carry cultural identity and heritage.
One piece costs only Rs 100.
