Security Forces Recover Drugs, Arms and Ammunition in Manipur Raids

 Imphal, Dec 16, 2025: Security Forces conducted a series of coordinated operations across Manipur, resulting in the arrest of one individual and the recovery of a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosives from multiple locations.

On December 15, Security Forces arrested Suimi Awungshi (53) of Muirei village, Kamjong district, from the Sawomgbung Tejpur area under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East district. During the operation, around 1 kg of brown sugar was seized from his possession.

On the same day, Security Forces recovered the following items from the Chanung hill range area under Sagolmang Police Station, Imphal East district:

i. 01 (one) modified .303 rifle fitted with scope along with magazine
ii. 01 (one) .303 rifle without magazine
iii. 02 (two) 12 Bore SBBL
iv. 04 (four) locally made SBBL
v. 02 (two) INSAS LMG magazines
vi. 03 (three) INSAS magazines
vii. 04 (four) 5.56×20 mm MO Carbine live rounds
viii. 15 (fifteen) INSAS live rounds
ix. 06 (six) 7.62×51 mm live rounds
x. 25 (twenty-five) .303 rifle live rounds
xi. 01 (one) No. 36 hand grenade without detonator
xii. 01 (one) 2-inch mortar shell HE MK-1
xiii. 02 (two) BP jacket covers

Another recovery was made on December 15 from the Changsang hill range area under Sagolmang Police Station, Imphal East district. The seized items included:

i. 01 (one) country-made 9 mm pistol
ii. 01 (one) pistol magazine with 2 live rounds
iii. 17 (seventeen) rounds of ammunition
iv. 08 (eight) cartridges of different rifles
v. 01 (one) INSAS LMG magazine
vi. 07 (seven) fired AK cartridge cases
vii. 01 (one) fired SLR cartridge case
viii. 01 (one) pistol holster

Earlier, on December 14, Security Forces recovered the following items from the Tentha Tuwaband Irel Ching area under Khongjom Police Station, Thoubal district:

i. 03 (three) 12 Bore guns
ii. 01 (one) SMG Carbine along with magazine
iii. 01 (one) modified .303 rifle
iv. 01 (one) modified .32 pistol
v. 02 (two) No. 36 HE hand grenades
vi. 01 (one) INSAS LMG magazine
vii. 01 (one) SLR magazine
viii. 05 (five) .303 ammunition
ix. 10 (ten) 7.62 SLR ammunition
x. 04 (four) 12 Bore cartridges
xi. 01 (one) .32 ammunition
xii. 04 (four) 9 mm ammunition
xiii. 03 (three) 38 mm anti-riot shells with rubber bullets
xiv. 04 (four) tear smoke shells

Security officials said the operations were part of ongoing measures to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order in the state. Further investigation is underway.
