Lamka, 10 Jan 2026: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has firmly endorsed the Kuki-Zo Governing Council's decision, declaring that Kuki-Zo people cannot join Manipur's government following Meitei-led ethnic violence. The press release, signed by ITLF President Pu Haokip and Secretary Pu Thangjolien, highlights over 60,000 displaced, churches destroyed, and widespread devastation from Imphal Valley-based attacks.
The statement reaffirms the 30 December 2025 resolution from the KZC meeting in Churachandpur, which unanimously demanded a separate Union Territory administration. ITLF stresses that no Kuki-Zo MLAs should participate in forming the Manipur government, holding such actions as personal responsibility outside collective will. This comes after the KZC's earlier clarification on 6 January.
The endorsement underscores fractured trust after broken ceasefires and relentless targeting of Kuki-Zo areas. ITLF urges unity behind the territorial demand as the sole political solution, vowing no compromise under current realities. Community leaders call for steadfast resolve to protect lives and heritage.
