KOHIMA, Feb 14, 2026: The Angami Public Organization (APO) has expressed strong concern over the alleged treatment of leaders from the Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) by residents of Maova Village, describing the incident as unacceptable and a threat to peaceful coexistence between communities.
In a press release issued jointly signed by APO General Secretary Keneilasa Neikha and President Thejao Vihienuo from Kohima on February 14, the APO said it was “shocked” by reports that the President and leaders of CPO were allegedly attacked while attempting to meet local leaders for an amicable solution to issues affecting inter-community harmony. The organization termed the incident a preplanned confrontation and appreciated CPO leaders for restraining their youth from retaliatory violence.
The APO further stated that it has received reports about changing attitudes among some sections of the Kuki community in Angami areas and noted what it described as a growing influx into the territory. It urged those residing in the area to maintain gratitude and respect for longstanding traditions of peaceful coexistence, and to avoid actions that could disturb harmony.
According to the statement, the organization appealed for calm and called on leaders from both Maova Village and CPO to resolve differences through dialogue without further escalation. The APO expressed hope that better sense would prevail and that both sides would work toward maintaining peace in the region.
