ITLF Issues Resolution Amid Ongoing Manipur Ethnic Tension

Lamka, Feb 14, 2026: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has issued a press release emphasizing the urgent need for a political solution to address the ongoing conflict between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities in Manipur.

According to the statement released on Friday (Feb 13), the forum said that since the violence that erupted on May 3, 2023, it has repeatedly stressed the importance of finding a viable political settlement to prevent further arson, killings, and destruction.

During a meeting held on February 12, 2026, the forum reportedly resolved that until a workable political solution is achieved for the Kuki-Zo community, Meitei individuals will not be allowed to enter Kuki-Zo inhabited areas. The organization stated that the resolution was adopted with the intention of safeguarding lives, maintaining public order, and preventing further escalation of violence.

The forum also appealed to all communities, authorities, and stakeholders to respect and strictly adhere to the resolution in the larger interest of peace and stability in the region.
