On February 7, 2026, thousands of app-based transport workers from over 20 states gathered at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi for a "Delhi Chalo" protest. Led by the National Driver United Front and supported by unions like TGPWU and IFAT, drivers for platforms like Ola, Uber, and Rapido are striking against declining incomes and corporate exploitation.
The protesters are primarily demanding a minimum base fare of Rs 25/km to offset rising fuel costs and inflation, alongside a strict ban on private vehicles (like bike taxis) being used for commercial purposes. Union leaders have warned that if the government fails to regulate fares or address these grievances, a larger nationwide agitation will be launched on March 22.
