LAMKA, Sept 14, 2026 — The Kuki-Zo Council (KZC) has strongly condemned the brutal killings of four Kuki-Zo civilians, including two women, in separate attacks carried out across Tamenglong and Noney districts on September 13, 2026.
In a press statement issued today by Ginza Vualzong, Spokesperson and Secretary of Information & Publicity for the KZC, the Council stated that these violent incidents lay bare the brutality of Naga armed groups in Manipur and serve as a chilling reminder of the unabated violence faced by the Kuki-Zo population.
Casualties and Victims Identified The press statement detailed the specifics of the two separate attacks:
L. Tollen Village: Seineh Singsit and his wife, Lhingzangai Singsit, were killed. Their six-year-old son sustained a horrific gunshot wound to his hand, reportedly leaving the limb nearly severed.
Longpi Village: Julie Gangte, a pregnant woman, and Thangvel Roel Gangte — the only son of his family — were killed. Another victim, Nei Esther, suffered critical injuries.
Criticism of Naga Leadership
The Council called out what it termed "double standards" among Naga leaders in Manipur. The KZC highlighted that while Naga leaders loudly demand justice for six Naga deaths, they remain silent on the 22 Kuki-Zo civilians — including women and children — reportedly killed by Naga armed groups since the beginning of 2026. The statement emphasized that selective outrage cannot obscure the suffering of others. Furthermore, the KZC condemned the apparent unwillingness of Naga political and civil society leaders to engage in meaningful dialogue and reconciliation to end the Naga–Kuki-Zo conflict.

Demands for Central Intervention
Expressing deep concern over reports attributing these attacks to NSCN-IM cadres operating through or alongside ZUF-K and Naga Village Guards, the KZC called on the Government of India to act decisively.
The Council stressed that NSCN-IM must not be allowed to operate with impunity, particularly given the absence of a ceasefire agreement covering the state of Manipur. The release warned that continued armed-group operations threaten civilian lives and risk pushing Manipur into another full-scale conflict.
In closing, the KZC asserted that the Kuki-Zo community has endured enough bloodshed, demanding equal justice, universal accountability, and non-discriminatory protection for civilian lives.
