CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF PU VUNGZAGIN VALTE
22nd February, 2026
The Thadou Students' Association (TSA) expresses its deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences on the untimely demise of Vungzagin Valte on 21st February, 2026 in New Delhi after a prolonged illness resulting from the brutal attack and grievous injuries he sustained in May 4, 2023.
Born in Mualnuam village, he served with distinction as a three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly from the 56–Thanlon Assembly Constituency (2012–2026) in Manipur, and as a Cabinet Minister from 2020 to 2022. Pu Valte dedicated his life to public service, steadfastly working for the welfare and upliftment of his people. Before entering politics, he served as a banker with the State Bank of India, reflecting his long-standing commitment to serving society with integrity and diligence.
During a particularly challenging period in Thadou history in 2017, he stood firmly with the Thadou Students' Association and attended our 60th Foundation Day (Diamond Jubilee) celebration at Taloulong Village on 29th October, 2017, as Guest of Honour, an act of solidarity that remains deeply cherished by our community. His gracious presence during that defining moment reflected his courage, conviction, and unwavering commitment to his people. His generous contribution to the Thadou cause and his consistent presence at Thadou functions till his last breath demonstrated his genuine friendship and steadfast support for our community.
Though a leader from the Paite tribe, belonging to the Zomi community and serving as MLA of Thanlon, he carried himself with remarkable humility, remained accessible to all, and emerged as a mass leader for the people of Manipur beyond tribal and constituency boundaries.
TSA honors his legacy of simplicity, courage, and inclusive leadership. We pray that the Almighty grants eternal peace to his soul and strength to his bereaved family.
May his life and contributions continue to inspire generations to come.
