Lamka, Feb 6, 2026: The Zomi Council has strongly rejected allegations branding three Zomi/Kuki/Hmar MLAs as "traitors" following the formation of the new popular government in Manipur.
In a press statement issued by Mary Jones Vung, Secretary, Information and Publicity, Zomi Council Headquarters, Lamka. on Thursday, the Zomi Council said the allegations made by certain sections of society were unethical and uncalled for.
The council clarified that all 10 MLAs belonging to the Zomi, Kuki and Hmar communities are equally responsible and accountable for the formation of the popular government in the state.
The statement further said that the two Zomi MLAs residing within the Zomi area will be dealt with exclusively by the Zomi community. It warned that no outsider should attempt to interfere in their personal lives or property.
The Zomi Council also cautioned that any defaulter would bear consequences at their own risk, stating that the council would not be held responsible for such actions.
Meanwhile, the council appealed to the Central Government to expedite political talks for an immediate political solution to the ongoing crisis in Manipur.
The Zomi Council also appreciated the strict vigilance exercised by the police, security forces and village volunteers in maintaining peace in the communities.
