Five Rescued Snakes Released in Langol Forest

Imphal, May 12, 2026: The Central Forest Division, Manipur, on May 12 carried out a wildlife relocation and release operation at Langol Reserved Forest in Imphal.

The operation was conducted in the presence of Shri Vikram Suresh Nadhe (IFS), Divisional Forest Officer of the Central Forest Division, along with Shri Yumnam Kiranjit, Range Forest Officer of Sadar West Range, forest staff, and a research scholar from the Department of Zoology, Manipur University.

During the operation, five rescued snakes were safely released back into their natural habitat inside the Langol Reserved Forest. The reptiles included one adult Copper-headed Trinket Snake, three Monocled Cobras — two of them described as very large — and one Indochinese Rat Snake.

According to the Forest Department, the snakes had earlier been rescued from different locations across Imphal West and Imphal East districts through coordinated rescue efforts.

The Central Forest Division reiterated its commitment to wildlife conservation and urged the public not to harm wild animals or reptiles found in residential areas. The department appealed to citizens to immediately inform forest officials or authorised rescue personnel in case of wildlife sightings.
