CONDEMNATION
May 13, 2026
The Zou Christian Leaders Forum (ZCLF) strongly condemns the brutal killing and violence committed by militants on 13 May 2026 near Kotlen against Thadou religious leaders, namely Rev. Vumthang Sitihou, Former General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC), Pastor Paogou, and Pastor Kaigoulien, as well as the injuring of three others.
This cold-blooded murder of unarmed and peace-loving religious leaders is deeply distressing and devastating, not only to the bereaved families but also to the entire state, as it seriously undermines our collective pursuit of peace and reconciliation.
We convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, relatives, and friends of Rev. Vumthang Sitihou, Former General Secretary of the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC), Pastor Paogou, and Pastor Kaigoulien. We also pray for the speedy and complete recovery of the three injured persons.
We appeal to all sections of society to uphold peace, exercise restraint, and refrain from any emotional or retaliatory response. We urge the people of Manipur to remain calm, stand together, and work in unity toward peace and harmony as Christians and as fellow human beings.
May God’s peace prevail over hatred and violence, bringing comfort to the grieving and hope and healing to all affected.
