CCPur Set for Three-Day Pulse Polio Campaign

Lamka, June 26, 2026 (DIO): Churachandpur district is all set to observe the Polio Sub-National Immunization Day from June 28 to 30, with over 25,800 children below the age of five targeted for vaccination under the Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization Programme.

Preparations for the campaign were reviewed during a meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner-cum-Chairman of the District Health Society (DHS), Shri Krishna Kumar, IAS, at the DC Conference Hall, Tuibong. The meeting also discussed health and mission-related issues under the National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health (NPCCHH) and the District Task Force on Immunization (DTFI).

According to Dr. Sania Monica, Medical Superintendent, the three-day immunization drive, launched under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, will begin on June 28 with booth-based vaccination at 331 immunization booths across the district from 7:00 a.m. onwards. The campaign will cover all children up to five years of age, including newborns.

House-to-house vaccination activities will be carried out on June 29 and 30 to ensure no eligible child is left behind. A total of 25,823 children are expected to receive polio drops under the supervision of 66 supervisors.

The Deputy Commissioner urged parents and guardians to bring all children below five years of age to the nearest polio booth on June 28 and appealed to the public to support the campaign. He also encouraged citizens to adopt eco-friendly practices to help reduce the impact of climate change.

The meeting also focused on strengthening the district's preparedness against emerging public health threats and climate-sensitive health challenges through better inter-departmental coordination. Discussions covered preparedness for extreme weather events such as heatwaves and coldwaves, management of air pollution-related illnesses, and the development of green, climate-resilient healthcare infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by the Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent, District Nodal Officer for Climate Change, Programme Manager (NHM), Family Welfare Officer, Surveillance Officer, Epidemiologist, Malaria Officer, representatives from the Electricity, Education, PWD, PHED, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and members of the District Task Force on Immunization.
