Suangdoh Plants 300 Jackfruit Saplings Along Guite Road (NH-102B)🌳

Lamka, June 26, 2026: Today, the people of Suangdoh Village successfully completed a landmark community initiative by planting 300 jackfruit saplings along Guite Road (NH-102B). The plantation drive began on 22 June and was completed today through the collective efforts of our villagers, working tirelessly even under the drizzle rain.

To ensure healthy growth and adequate space for the trees to mature, the saplings were planted approximately 40 feet apart. Each one has also been protected with fences made from locally available wood, bamboo strips, and jungle vines, reflecting our commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

We planted these trees with the hope that, as they mature, they will provide cool shade and delicious fruits to everyone travelling along Guite Road, which stretches for over 100 kilometres, including about 17 kilometres through Suangdoh Village land. Jackfruit was chosen because it is an "evergreen" tree with a broad, dense canopy that offers excellent shade while also producing nutritious and tasty fruits.

This initiative is our small contribution towards creating a greener, cooler, and more welcoming environment for both local residents and travellers for generations to come.

We sincerely thank the Range Officer, Singngat Range, Forest Department, for generously providing the 300 jackfruit saplings. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to every villager whose hard work, unity, and dedication made this initiative a success.

"The best time to plant a tree was years ago. The second-best time is today." 🌱
