DC Krishna Kumar Reviews Development Projects

Lamka, June 25, 2026 (DIO): Deputy Commissioner of Churachandpur, Shri Krishna Kumar, IAS, today inspected the ongoing construction of the Specialized and Dedicated Health Unit for Women and Children at the Lamka South TD Block Complex in Khominthang, New Lamka.

Lamka South Block, which gained national recognition under NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Blocks Programme, secured the 1st position in the Delta Ranking in December 2023. Building on this achievement and as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region, a Specialized Health Centre for Women and Children is being established in the block.

The foundation stone of the project was laid by Shri Dharun Kumar S., IAS, on May 26, 2026. The initiative aims to improve access to quality healthcare services for women and children and enhance maternal and child health outcomes in the area. The facility will include a labour room, immunization services, and basic medical check-up facilities, with a primary focus on women and children.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of the construction work and directed officials to ensure strict adherence to quality standards and timely completion. The contractor informed that the project is expected to be completed within the next two months.

Later, Shri Krishna Kumar also inspected the construction of a Multi-Purpose Indoor Stadium being built under the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) at Pearsonmun Village. The inspection was attended by Shri T. Khaikhomang, Chief of Pearsonmun Village. Once completed, the stadium is expected to strengthen sports infrastructure in the district and promote youth development and community participation in sports activities.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied during the inspections by Shri Thangboi Gangte, MCS, ADC Mualnuam and SDO Mualnuam-cum-In-Charge BDO, Lamka South TD Block, and Shri Jameson Hangshing, MCS, Project Director, DRDA and In-Charge BDO, Lanva.

In a separate programme held at the DRDA Office, Mini-Secretariat Campus, Tuibong, the Deputy Commissioner handed over four steel display cabinets each to six tribal communities—Paite, Vaiphei, Gangte, Simte, Kom, and Zou—to support the tribal museums established under the Manipur State Archaeology Department, Department of Art and Culture.

These museums, set up across various districts of Manipur, form part of a broader initiative to preserve traditional artefacts, safeguard cultural identity, and promote the rich heritage and artistic traditions of the state's diverse tribal communities.

The display cabinets were formally handed over in the presence of Shri Jameson Sehlal Hangsing, PD, DRDA, tribal leaders, and representatives of civil society organisations (CSOs).
